I've had a dream

This is something I wrote while researching. There are some things that never leave your mind.

I've had a dream.

You waited there,

Atop the hill

By ruined church.

I've had a dream.

You looked at me

And pointed

To the cherry tree.

I've had a dream,

You smiled at me.

You came at last,

Now set me free.

I've had a dream.

Your eyes were sad.

Be brave, my lass,

I shall be here.

I've had a dream.

You held my hand-

And brought the boys

Along to see.

I've had a dream

You were so young,

As you are now,

So once were we.

I've had a dream

You brought me there

There, there,

You said, no time to grieve.

I've had a dream

You held me close.

As I've been there

So you are here.

You've had a dream,

And mine was long-

And now it ends

To rise anew.

You'll find a way

You'll be alright

And we'll be there

As we once were.

So don't be sad,

I promise you:

We'll meet again

In Air Force blue.

We're both the same,

We don't belong:

But we are here

To pay our due.

You know us well,

As we do you:

So don't give up

We'll fly you through.
