Let me mourn the knighthood
That is gone.
Let me mourn those
Who are still too high
For us to see.
Let me mourn
The knights of the air,
Who died
Along with the knights
Of prayer and sword.
Let me mourn
The chivalry
Of the days long gone
And pray in silence
Of days flying past
For those
Who still guard
The gates.
Let me mourn
The knights
Of the shining faith,
Those of the
Silver wings,
And those
Of the nightly prayer.
Let me plant
A flower,
Redder than blood
Spilled on the
Battlefield,
For each of them.
Let me mourn.
Let me pray
For they don’t make
Men like that
Anymore.
And women should
Wear armour
To survive.
Let me mourn
The age
That’s passed
And hope
That we live
Long enough
To see
Their sacrifice
Bloom
Into
The brighter future.
Love this. There's a melancholy air to it, but it's also optimistic.
Beautiful capture of thought. Much of that sentiment is sadly true, but there are still knights out there. Some of us has taken a vow to defend chivalry and the honor of ladies and good people out here to receive knightly ensignia. We don’t wear armor as such anymore, or swords 🗡️, but we never back down. Never. Me personally I know full well that the true king will return one day. The bloodline is unbroken.
