Hi there.
My name is Helena, but you can call me Hell. Scripty will also do. Or, you can invent your own name for me, I don't mind.
I was born long ago, in 1989, which makes me what, ancient? And I always loved making up things - stories and little scribbly things. As I was getting older, this scribblephilia aggravated, and here I am.
My diploma will tell you that I am a PR specialist, but don't you dare believe it. Nowadays I am mostly a writer/ poet/ researcher and a historian, but of course, all these blend when I do what I do. I also read cards, both tarot and oracles, and I must tell you, I do find it fascinating. Oh. Yes. They tell me I am a psychic. That depends on my mental state-mostly I use this to write. Especially when writing history- which is not easy.
My love for research began with Celtic polytheism. That was a big journey, a dive into mythology and tradition, language and culture- and I can say I'm still on that road. It's a lifelong thing, it seems.
After that, there were the Teutonic knights. I even wrote a thesis on their history and the history of the cathedral they've built here, in Koenigsberg. It took me 3 years.
After that, the RAF pilots of the WW2 came, and this research started sort of almost accidentally, after learning the real story behind the myth all the tourists are constantly being fed. This road brought me to amazing discoveries and fantastic new people. And to substack - officially. Which turned out to be quite cool.
Oh, I forgot. Before the Celts, there were the Tudors. I was always fascinated by the UK- and history of the Tudors. This road actually is the longest- it goes on for years now, roughly- for a decade plus. Still on-going.
Victorian era was always the soft spot too - how could it not be, with all the gothic atmosphere? So, when 1888 popped up (I was 12 at the time), it gripped me. And I'm still on it- but I'm writing a book, too. Bloody serious.
That's to answer a question posed by
:)I post Victorian facts on my Victorian Hell substack, along with new chapters, so check it out.
I love music. I love movies. I am a maddened book collector and a reader, which is tricky as I have 3 young goblins in the house. I am a crafter, and I knit almost constantly. I am also a translator, working with 6 languages. I have mess, but sometimes it happens. I love it when it rains and storms outside. I love earl grey too much. And yes, my heart is somewhere in London. Always. Between the Inner Temple and Christchurch Greyfriars.
I am all out there, in what I write. So take a look. Comment, share, write to me.
Occasionally I do things like poetry by request, so watch out for them:)
Questions welcome.
I'm going now:)
I, for one, greatly enjoy your scribblings and whatnots, which are much to my taste. I find that in between my own research on the holy bloodline, and my writings and paintings and music I need to get input of quality work, which is where you fit snugly, I would say. So glad the divine made me stumble across your writings.
I said it was going to be a nice piece, I'm not disappointed ;)
Looks like we have quite a lot of things in common!
"here, in Koenigsberg"
Wait, you're there ? For some reason I was convinced you were somewhere in the UK !
6 languages, wow ! I guess I could say I have 5, but to be honest this includes the ones I "know" but don't really master (my English full of barbarisms for instance) and the ancient ones which I can't really speak anyways. So, yes, working with 6 is... really impressive !
